Spacemen 3
Sound Of Confusion
Spacemen 3s debut album "Sound Of Confusion", released in 1986, was a blistering affair - establishing their love of the two-chord song and also expressing their admiration for the likes of MC5, The 13th Floor Elevators and The Stooges. Sound of Confusion was 7 tracks of overdriven assault, with a strange bleakness and despair creeping through the hypnotic sprawl. R Hunter Gibson would later say: "It boosts the value of unlit rooms, unpaid debts and unfeigned terror and it would rather tackle the gradients than settle for level best.">> more details
Spacemen 3
The Perfect Prescription
Spacemen 3's second album is a remarkable departure from the band's 1986 debut, SOUND OF CONFUSION. Reduced to a trio (guitarists/keyboardists Pete "Sonic Boom" Kember, Jason "Spaceman" Pierce, and bassist Pete Bassman) following the departure of the first album's drummer, Spacemen 3 makes an asset out of the newfound lack of percussion, giving THE PERFECT PRESCRIPTION a considerably less rock-oriented sound with much more open space in its obsessive, varied and subtle arrangements.>> more details

Chamber Music Artists
Chamber Music (James Joyce)
Five years in the making [and 100 years since its original publication] comes the epic 36 artists interpretation of James Joyce’s 1907 collection of poems charting love from innocence to experience. With contributions from major established artists (Mercury Rev, Ed Harcourt, Peter Buck from REM under the moniker Airport Studies, Lee Ranaldo from Sonic Youth with Text Of Light, etc) and cult players (Jessica Bailiff, Gravenhurst, Mike Watt, Bardo Pond etc) this represents a sweeping but unified expression of Joyce’s early love-hungry verse. Beautifully packaged double slipcase CD and double gatefold vinyl with artwork by Stephanie Black.>> more details
Virgin Passages
Distance
Virgin Passages create beautifully original soundscapes from often improvised pieces but retain a pop sensibility akin to early Mercury Rev, Spacemen 3 and Jackie O Motherfucker. Distance see them in great pop form with the short and sweet title track followed by the meandering stereolab-alike anthem of 'This Is Not The End Of The World Again' and the neu-folk of the subtely sublime 'Who Do You Love'.>> more details
