Back in the days when I was very partial to big guitar records and obviously Mr. Janovitz was into making them, my estimation of Buffalo Tom grew ten-fold when I heard a track of theirs called "Tail-Lights" I think it was, which simply blew me away. These days, I'm kind of at a loss to understand why what I teasingly term the "High Fidelity" generation, self-consciously clutching their Gram Parsons, Nick Drake and Jeff Buckley records, seem to ignore trad-rock stuff like Bruce Springsteen. Listening to Bill's record, old fogey that I can be, I hear shades of Bruce and maybe even The Eagles too, as well as Gram. "Half A Heart" could be the best song/duet Gram Parsons never wrote. Heart-rending loveliness!
