Virginia Wing Release ‘Grapefruit’ – First Single From New Album!

Following the release of this year’s Record Store Day EP ‘Rhonda’, Virginia Wing release their first single from second album ‘Forward Constant Motion’ out later this year on Fire Records.

Now a duo, the new material sees their sound evolving from the sonic experimentations of the critically acclaimed debut ‘Measures Of Joy’. Unfurling into melodic synth-pop with bouncy electronics and shimmering synths, lead track ‘Grapefruit’ deals with interpersonal relationships between women and in particular the desire to heal someone’s grief and knowing the impossibility of that desire.

Our friend Matthew Benn came to studio for a few days and the four of us (Matt, Misha, Sam and myself) wrote this song together over the course of a day. Sam and Matt had spent the morning giving themselves douche chills by running piano samples through a modular synth or something so we decided to write a song that was uncomplicated and carefree.”

Following a headline European tour and a UK tour with Hookworms last year, they’ll be on the road again later this year. Virginia Wing are Sam Pillay and Alice Merida Richards.
