Following the release of Fire newcomer lucky break’s recent singles comes her last new music of the year – new single ‘Darklight’ is out today on Fire Records.
Arriving fully formed, lucky break’s ‘Darklight’ is a playful, self-assured, and self-actualized piece of music from someone who has more than found her voice. Helping the young musician make sense of the world though her songwriting, ‘Darklight’ is a euphoric slice of indie rock and effortless pop that shines its light on turbulent relationships.
Co-produced by Elliot Woodbridge and lucky break, ‘Darklight’ was recorded out of a studio in Burbank, next to the train tracks and was written during her days off from working summer camp.
Released alongside striking new music video that captures the turmoil out in the Californian desert. The music video is directed by collaborator Margaret Gobbell and draws influences from Blair Witch project, Paris, Texas, Possession (1981) and David Lynch with a dark spirited avant-garde feel throughout.
lucky break describes “the visual style for this video as “High DIY” given that our actual film-making experience was non-existent”.
‘Darklight’ is released ahead of lucky break’s highly anticipated debut album out in 2026.
