Bas Jan announce reissue of ‘Baby U Know’. Watch video for ‘Profile Picture’

Recently signing to Fire Records, Bas Jan announce limited edition red vinyl reissue of the agit pop four-piece’s second album, ‘Baby U Know’, set for release on 17th March.

A heady collision of Raincoats-esque indie and ESG-paced rhythms fed through a kaleidoscopic pagan folk filter. The follow up to their critically acclaimed 2018 debut ‘Yes I Jan’, this release is a wordy slice of state-of-the-art social commentary wrapped in a perfectly-balanced soundscape that veers from funky minimalism to baroque dream pop.

Newly revisited, and out today, it includes an unreleased RAGGS ‘Profile Picture’  remix from prolific post-punk guitarist, Rachel Aggs. Known for collaborative projects with Sacred Paws, Shopping and Trash Kit, Rachel Aggs has been a major influence on London’s and Glasgow’s DIY scene and is a close associate of the band. This new remix brings a heady dance-floor touch to their up-beat off-kilter track.

“Post punk meets art pop!” London In Stereo

With a hint of Ari Up styled vocals backed by a harmonious chorus of concern touching on everything from incantations, essential causes and systematic shopping, all underpinned by a raking violin and bewitching electronic hum.

Mixed by Capitol K at Total Refreshment Centre, ‘Baby U Know’  is a lyrical miasma examining the collapse of modern Britain from a group who have served time with Jarv Is, Meilyr Jones, The Elysian Quartet, Trash Kit and Rozi Plain among others.

Bas Jan is the vehicle for well-established musicians Serafina Steer, Emma Smith, Charlie Stock and percussionist Rachel Horwood.

Out 17th March. Available on LTD Edition Red Vinyl.
